Renovation Projects Garbage Removal |
|
With cost of new homes in Calgary continuing to rise, many people are choosing to renovate rather than relocate. Whether the job is large or small, renovation generates a large amount of garbage during both the destruction and construction phases. This means you need the most efficient waste removal method—a roll-off garbage bin.
Because renovation projects take place in established neighborhoods, you’ll need to consider these important points before you begin:
- Garbage Bin placement
If possible the garbage bin should be placed on your own property and not on city property (such as the street). When placing the garbage bin on your property please remember that it can cause damage to your concrete drive way and plywood should be placed underneath it to prevent this from happening. The bin can also be placed in your yard but it will damage the grass when it is picked up for removal. Grass is usually easy to repair so this is the option of choice for many projects.
If space is a problem you may need to place the garbage bin on city property, which requires a permit. Call 3-1-1 and ask the operator to direct you to the proper City of Calgary department. You will need to be careful with your bin placement choice as there are fines for damaging trees, curbs, sidewalks and pavement.
- Garbage Bin size
Our 12 cubic yard garbage bin and quiet single axle trucks are perfect for renovation projects. These bins are smaller than our 17's and and will not impose upon your neighbours. If you fill the garbage bin prior to finishing your project, simply call our office and tell us you would like the bin dumped and returned. This process can be repeated as many times as needed until your project is completed. Charges do apply on dumps and returns.
- Ease of access
All of our bins have large back doors that can be swung open so that large items can be carried directly into the bin rather than lifted and thrown over the side. This feature is especially beneficial during renovation projects when large appliances or sections are carried out of the house for disposal.
Restricted Items
Certain items cannot be placed in our bins for removal. A complete list is available at the City of Calgary's website, but some of the items include: paints, oil, batteries, propane tanks, gas tanks, Freon, railway ties, PCBS, tires, grass clippings, sod and asbestos, cement, dirt or sod.
